Pre-Teen and Adolescent Counseling

For pre-teens and adolescents, counseling incorporates the parents and student’s needs, goals, and reasons for initiating counseling. The emotional and developmental level of the student are considered in counseling. The counselor may use games, markerboard activities, art projects, music or conversation to provide a relaxed environment for the student to express their needs. Whether students are struggling with school, friends, parents, decision-making, self-harm, gender identity, or other concerns, counseling can help them to explore their values and new ways of thinking and reacting, while providing parents with resources to support their child in maturing.
