Sheila “Dawn” Hensley joined the Center for Counseling and Family Relationships in 2016. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Social Work from Texas State University in 2010. Dawn completed her Master’s Degree from Texas State University in 2014 with a focus in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling. She received her License as a Professional Counselor in 2016. Dawn’s experience has focused on a wide variety of age demographics. She has facilitated groups with elderly clients in rural communities and provided therapy to “at risk” youth ages 0-17 and their families in various counties across the state of Texas.
Dawn believes the nature of counseling is where people discover areas in their lives where they would like to see growth, can provide help in dealing with inferiority feelings, and allow for discovery into how family relationships impact our lives. Counseling allows a client to better understand who they are and build social support, while being centered on what each client is motivated to accomplish and their personal goals.
Dawn specializes in play therapy with children and their families. She also works with adolescents and adults with issues regarding: anger management, anxiety, couples/marital issues, depression, grief/loss, marital, self-esteem, and spirituality.
