Kristy Hawes

Hello! I’m Kristy Hawes, and I have been a LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker) since April 2024. I graduated from Harding University with a bachelor’s in psychology and from the University of Texas at Arlington with a master’s in social work with a mental health and substance misuse concentration

Outside of the office, you can find me reading Brandon Sanderson novels, playing Dungeons and Dragons with my friends, hanging out with my husband, attempting Christian yoga, or trying to befriend stray animals.

My Counseling Approach

CCFAM Staff Kristy Hawes

I believe that God is the one guiding all of our healing journeys, and that he uses His followers to help others in their journeys. However, I welcome working with clients holding many different beliefs, even if they disagree with my own.

My guiding principle is that people generally want to better their lives, and any behavior is an attempt to meet a need, whether that behavior is healthy or not. Additionally, I can take a few different approaches depending on the needs of my clients. I am trauma-informed, and I use play therapy to communicate with kids in their natural language and to promote healing and coping skills. I am scheduled to be EMDR trained in June 2025 to heal trauma in all ages, and I also pull from cognitive-behavioral therapy because I believe that our minds affect our bodies and our bodies affect our minds.

I am currently under the supervision of Cheryl Dielman, LCSW-S, LPC-S.
