Hi! My name is Julie. Being a mom and an elementary school teacher shaped much of the path that eventually led me to counseling . Raising five children with diverse needs, including Autism and ADHD, taught me to advocate for their individual needs while also learning that caring for my own health and well-being mattered, too. Adoption has also been an important part of our family’s story. Two of my children were born in China, and traveling there to adopt my youngest expanded my understanding of culture, family, and connection. Through these experiences, I saw how much relationships, support, and advocacy can matter during challenging seasons, and I wanted to help others feel seen and better equipped to advocate for themselves. I went on to earn my Master of Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington and became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
One of my greatest passions is supporting women, children, adolescents, and families. My own experience learning to advocate for my children and prioritize my well-being gave me a particular interest in helping women who may be balancing the needs of the people they love with their own needs, goals, and sense of self. My years as an elementary school teacher, raising five children, and providing therapy in school settings also shaped my passion for working with children and adolescents as they build confidence and develop a stronger understanding of themselves.
Outside of counseling, I enjoy historical fiction, museums, documentaries, and connecting with friends through book club. Some of my favorite moments are the simplest ones spent with my adult children, whether we are sharing a meal, playing cards, or gathering around a board game. I am also new to the area and enjoy exploring everything it has to offer.

If you are accustomed to taking care of everyone else, reaching out for support for yourself may not come easily. I want our work to feel like a genuine partnership where you can talk honestly about what is happening in your life. I am interested in understanding the whole person in front of me, including the relationships, environments, and experiences that have shaped the way you understand yourself and respond to the world around you. I hope you feel comfortable being yourself in our sessions and know that your experiences and needs matter there.
I draw from person-centered and trauma-informed approaches while tailoring our work to what you need. Together, we may look more closely at experiences or patterns affecting you now, recognize strengths you may have overlooked, and develop practical ways to handle challenges differently. Rather than applying the same solution to everyone, I want our work to help you better understand yourself, advocate for what you need, and make meaningful changes that reflect who you are and what matters to you.
