DYLAN HERNANDEZ

I was born in 1991 and raised in Cedar Hill, Texas. Through my experience of being a camp counselor and youth minister, I heard a calling to get into counseling. Already having a solid foundation of working with children and families, I figured he could apply those skills apply them to working with different populations of people. I have a heart for helping others and want to help make a change and difference in their lives. I want to help people feel like they do have power over their problems and that they have the tools to make changes in their lives to live successful lives. I pride myself on listening to each client that I work with and I want to make each client feel heard and valued. I try my best to be as encouraging as possible towards my clients and help them achieve their goals.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my beautiful wife and daughter and son. I enjoy family dinners and going to movies and playing games together. I am a huge sports fan, especially the Cowboys and Rangers. I am diehard fan of these teams. So, you know that I will stick with my clients through the good times and the not-so-good times. I have played guitar since I was 16. I am also a big fan of video games.

My Counseling Approach

For children, I use a trauma based approach and I believe that building relationships is vital to successful therapy. I provide a safe place for trust to be built so that change can occur and I meet the child where they are at with their issues. I will collaborate with the parent at the beginning and end of each session so that we can work together to ensure that the child is meeting their goals and can be as successful as possible.

For adults, I try to use a client centered approach to meet each client’s needs. Even for adults, I believe that building a relationship is vital to a successful counseling relationship.

I want the counseling room to be a safe place for you to come and talk and where positive change can happen and your goals can be reached.
