Matthew Bacchus

Hey there! I’m Matthew, and I recently moved to Fort Worth from Denver to be closer to family, and I’m grateful to be building both my life and practice here. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Colorado Christian University. I have always been drawn to people, their stories, their struggles, and their capacity to grow. At a meaningful point in my own life, a therapist helped me find healing, and that experience led me to pursue this work so I could offer the same to others.

Before becoming a counselor, I spent time in the fitness industry, coached track, worked in entertainment settings, and stayed closely connected to music and writing. Those experiences continue to shape how I understand discipline, identity, creativity, and growth.

Outside of counseling, I enjoy sprint training, music, movies, and long walks with my girlfriend, especially when we find ourselves guessing the price of houses in neighborhoods we probably cannot afford. I also have a strong appreciation for a good podcast, particularly anything related to counseling or human behavior. I also have a serious sweet tooth and have never been able to get behind coffee.

My Counseling Approach

If you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure how to make sense of what you are carrying, you are not alone. I aim to offer a space where you can speak honestly about your life and begin to understand what is happening beneath the surface.

My work is relational and integrative. I draw from person-centered, psychodynamic, and existential perspectives, influenced in part by thinkers like Irvin D. Yalom. These approaches help us explore patterns, understand deeper roots, and move toward meaningful change that feels real rather than surface-level.

For those who desire it, I incorporate faith into the counseling process. I believe God is active in healing and that growth often happens in the context of relationship. As Jay Stringer writes, “The desire to change comes from our pursuit of beauty.” That pursuit can be difficult, and it is not meant to be done alone.

I often work with men, couples, and individuals navigating shame, sexual brokenness, anxiety, depression, and questions of identity. My goal is that, even if nothing else, you leave with at least one moment of recognizing that you matter more than you may have believed. You deserve a place where you can be honest, known, and supported as you move toward greater clarity and connection.
