REBECKA  “BECKA”  HONARDAR

Welcome, I’m Becka, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have been lucky enough to work with a wide variety of populations in very different settings, all of which have informed who I am as a counselor. I have worked with families of children with autism intermittently since early adulthood, and in these roles I have provided 1:1 therapy for children with autism, run an inclusive preschool classroom for neurotypical and neurodivergent children alike, and provided parent training and support. I have worked with adolescents and their families in a variety of roles as well, providing individual, group and family counseling for multiple years. While I am passionate about working with children of all ages, throughout my career I have also had the chance to work extensively with adults with substance abuse problems, trauma, depression, and a variety of other issues. I love being able to provide support to clients of all ages using a variety of different modalities, including Play Therapy.

I am a native Texan, who was born and raised in West Texas, attended college in Irving, and ultimately settled down to raise a family in Keller. I am an avid reader who loves finding new recipes, snuggling with my cats, and spending time at the beach (AKA my happy place). I consider it an honor to be trusted to walk alongside my clients as they become the best versions of themselves they can be and do not take the accompanying responsibility lightly.

My Counseling Approach

Rebecka “Becka” Honardar Profile Picture

I see my relationship with my clients as being an important part of the healing process, and I strive to provide an open, understanding and safe space for all of my clients by adopting a warm and informal style of interacting. From children to adults, laughter is often a large part of our sessions, as I believe that true connection with another person and laughter can be important parts of the therapeutic process. I see understanding why a person engages in a behavior as being just as important as learning alternative behaviors, and I am passionate about helping people delve into their own motivations and reasons for being with the aim of helping them meet their needs and goals in the healthiest possible way.

While I have many years of school and training to get to this place, I see my clients as being the real experts and agents of change, and I love working collaboratively with children, families, parents and adults as they work towards healing, reconciliation and peace. I am also a Christian and consider myself lucky to be able to incorporate faith into my work with clients at their own request, but my office is a safe space for all walks of life and beliefs.

I graduated from University of Dallas with my Bachelor’s in Psychology, and went on to receive my Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Texas. I’ve provided Applied Behavioral Analysis to children for many years and am currently working towards getting my certification as a Registered Play Therapist (RPT), a process that involves numerous hours of ongoing and postgraduate trainings as well as supervision.
