Shirley Moxley, M.A.

Shirley Moxley joined the Center for Counseling and Family Relationships in 2021. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of North Texas. Shirley completed her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2004. She has also completed doctoral work at B.H. Carroll Theological Institute. Shirley received her License as a Professional Counselor in 2008 and became an LPC Supervisor in 2010. She is EMDR Trained, certified in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing, and is a Certified Anger Management Specialist – I. Shirley has also been a Board-Certified Professional Christian Counselor since 2010. Shirley’s previous counseling experience includes specializing as a trauma therapist for several organizations, as a clinical director for an adolescent facility that included survivors of human trafficking, and as a director for other organizations focused on adult survivors of human trafficking. She has taught Master’s level counseling courses for B.H. Carroll Theological Institute, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Dallas Baptist University. Shirley’s previous experiences to counseling includes 20 years in Human Resources.

Shirley believes that the counseling relationship is built on trust and respect. She takes a holistic approach to counseling incorporating thoughts, emotions, experiences, physical health, and faith. She sees counseling as a partnership in which the common goal is helping each of her clients live their best life.
