We are here to help

We’re in-network with most major insurance companies and also offer lower self-pay fees through select staff.

Whether your student is struggling with school, friends, family relationships, decision-making, self-harm, gender identity, or other concerns, counseling at CCFAM offers a space for growth. Our counselors help students clarify their values and develop healthier ways of thinking and responding.

At CCFAM, we value our partnership with parents.

We offer parent meetings throughout your child’s counseling journey to share updates, provide resources and guidance, and monitor progress — all in support of your child’s growth and healing.

In the busyness of your daily life, it’s easy to feel caught between the demands of family, work, and managing your household.

At the same time, teenagers are navigating their own busy world—they are constantly dealing with surging emotions, changing hormones, and growing pressure from school, peers, and the outside world.
You may not know where to begin helping your teenager, or perhaps you’ve tried everything you know but nothing seems to be working.
That’s where CCFAM comes in. We partner with you to find solutions for your teen, support you as a parent, and help your family move toward the future you envision.

Your teenager may be experiencing…

…difficulty making or maintaining friendships

…conflict with parents, peers, or teachers

…emotional struggles leaving them feeling overwhelmed, lost, or unmotivated

…destructive emotional outbursts

…challenges with attention, impulsivity, or learning disabilities

…fear and anxiety in new situations or around unfamiliar people

…trouble making decisions or having confidence in choices

…stress from unexpected life transitions including a move, parental separation, or shifting peer groups

…grief after the loss of family member, birth parent, friend, or pet

…uncertainty due to a health diagnosis

…impact of abuse, betrayal, or trauma by someone they trusted

…struggles with identity, who they are or where they belong

No matter what struggle your teen is experiencing,

they don’t have to go through it alone.

At CCFAM, we understand the struggles that adolescence brings

and we are here to help.

The CCFAM Pre-teen and Adolescent Counseling Process

Today’s pre-teens and adolescents also face intense pressure—from peers, society, and within themselves—to question or even abandon their beliefs and values. Without healthy growth in maturity, the ability to demonstrate trustworthiness in independence, the development of positive relationships, and the influence of positive role models or leaders to follow, they can quickly lose direction.

Counseling at CCFAM helps pre-teens through young adults navigate these challenges, build strong foundations, and move confidently toward their future.

Session 1: Parent-Intake and Goal Setting

This initial meeting is with you and your adolescent to discuss their background, current concerns, and specific needs. Together, we will explore how these challenges may be affecting your student’s daily life and begin identifying areas of focus.

Sessions 2&3: Individual Counseling with Your Pre-Teen or Adolescent

These sessions are one-on-one with your teen, allowing the counselor to begin building rapport and gaining insight.

Session 4: Parent Collaboration and Support

This parent-only session is a time to collaborate on a counseling plan, explore available resources, and provide you with guidance to support your teen’s progress.

Ongoing sessions: Continuing the Journey Together

Counseling will continue to focus on counseling goals. Parent meetings will be scheduled as needed, either by the counselor or at your request, to ensure consistent support and communication through the process.

Length of Pre-teen and Adolescent Counseling

While every pre-teen and adolescent is unique, meaningful change in counseling typically begins to emerge within 10–14 sessions. To help your teen reach meaningful change within 10–14 sessions, we recommend starting with weekly appointments.

Some pre-teens and adolescents may respond more quickly, while others may benefit from a longer course of counseling depending on factors such as frequency of appointments, their individual temperament, ongoing stressors, and implementation steps towards progress.

Before the first appointment, parents complete a checklist to help identify key concerns. Pre-teens and adolescents also complete a checklist to identify their key concerns. These tools are used throughout the counseling process to track progress and guide treatment goals.

Partnering with Parents

At CCFAM, we take the time to understand your unique perspective on your teen’s challenges, experiences, and progress between sessions. To provide the most effective support, we ask you to update us with relevant information before each session. This ensures we stay informed and able to address your teen’s needs in each of their sessions.

Your Questions Answered

What do I ask my pre-teen or adolescent after counseling sessions?

After a counseling session, feel free to ask your child about the session, but it’s important not to pressure them for details. Your pre-teen or adolescent may freely share, or they may be more reserved. Counseling is a place for them to work through their struggles. Be open to their comfort level of sharing. If your pre-teen or adolescent is more guarded, we can schedule regular parent meetings to keep you informed about progress and ensure counseling remains a positive experience for both of you.

Do you incorporate faith into counseling?

Our pre-teen and adolescent counselors are pleased to offer the option of incorporating a Christian perspective into our counseling sessions. Our counselors are equipped to integrate a Christian worldview as requested, while respecting the individual values and beliefs of our clients. We provide support for personal growth alongside faith development, offering faith-based resources and information about local churches. Additionally, we maintain partnerships with churches that rely on us to provide guidance rooted in biblical wisdom for their members.

Are your sessions offered in-person or virtually?

Our sessions are offered virtually or inperson in our north Fort Worth location.

When is your staff available?

Appointments are available days, evenings, and on Saturdays.

What is the length of the counseling session?

53 minutes

How will I be billed for my child’s counseling?

If you are using insurance, coding for all counseling appointments for minors utilizes a primary code and an add on code for activities used in sessions, as well as caregivers being involved in the counseling process.
