Licensed Professional Counselor
Emily Oakes joined the Center for Counseling and Family Relationships in 2019. She earned her Master’s in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. Prior to becoming a counselor, Emily completed her Bachelor’s at UTA specializing in elementary education. She taught for many years with students ages 5-14 and primarily worked with gifted and talented students and struggling learners. Emily’s previous counseling experience includes working with a local child advocacy center and a local non-profit. Emily’s current clientele remains broad as she serves children, teens, adults, and families. Her passion is in play for all ages.
Emily believes that we are designed for relationship and that an empathic and authentic relationship with your therapist plays an intricate role in healing and growth. She believes that each person is a unique individual and uses a variety of tools to meet unique needs in therapy.
